THE PASSION OF EXISTENCE
Written and Directed by Jessica Martinez, The Passion of Existence is an experimental short film that has screened in Europe, Canada and the U.S. Recently, Jessica was nominated for an Odyssey Award at the 2004 Hip Hop Odyssey Film Festival in the Bronx, New York.
The new remixed version includes "13 O'Clock Rock" from Los Tumbados. The orginal version can be found as part of the Bonus Features on the Pass The Mic! DVD.
The Passion of Existence displays a poetic journey into the artistically gritty streets of America. The power of Spray Can Art (Graffiti) is wonderfully captured, matching the politically charged words of Jessica Martinez.
The Film opens with Jessica's words "As I walk through the neighborhoods across America, I see reflections of expressions pumping vibrant colors off
street walls,
Threatening to fly off into the blue sky."
Jessica's words draw the viewer into this unique world.
The film has also caught the eye of Hip Hop Film Festivals from around the globe.
The Film Curator for the Vancouver International Hip Hop Film Festival Liz Vargas quotes "Your piece is great, there are great spray images and they go hand in hand
with your words."
